What’s inside
Full disclosure
This softgel contains one active ingredient: 600 mg of pantethine, a form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). The inactive ingredients are rice bran oil, sunflower lecithin, and beeswax — all part of the softgel capsule itself.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pantethine is possibly effective for high cholesterol (hyperlipoproteinemia). For athletic performance and other forms of high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), the evidence isn't established well enough to rate it.
There's also insufficient evidence to know whether it helps with pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), a rare genetic condition.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pantethine is generally well tolerated in studies, but long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are mild stomach complaints — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, and discomfort in the upper abdomen.
Mild itching has been reported but is uncommon. There isn't enough reliable safety data in pregnancy, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety during breastfeeding hasn't been well studied, so caution is advised — talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood thinners (anticoagulants like warfarin) or antiplatelet drugs (such as aspirin or clopidogrel), check your exact medications with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product — pantethine may increase your bleeding risk.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pantethine may help with high cholesterol, though the evidence isn't strong across the board. The main caution is if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first, since pantethine might raise your bleeding risk.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk it through with your healthcare provider before starting.

Formula
Pantethine is a highly absorbable and biologically active form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5). Pantethine is a precursor in the formation of coenzyme A (CoA), an essential cofactor for lipid, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism. Pantethine also helps to support proper cholesterol production and fat storage in the liver, which can help to promote healthy body fat distribution. It has been shown in clinical studies to assist in the maintenance of already healthy serum lipid levels for the support of a healthy cardiovascular system when used in conjunction with a healthy diet.
