Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: Dyer's Broom Flower Glycerite Liquid Extract. The extract is delivered in glycerin, which acts as the carrier and preservative.

Dyer's broom is a plant traditionally used in herbal preparations; this version is a concentrated liquid form meant to be taken by mouth.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Dyer's Broom product and its label doesn't state a use — see Dyer's Broom's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We don't have effectiveness data on file for dyer's broom. The evidence to support its use hasn't been established in the information we hold, so we can't tell you whether it works for any particular purpose.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Dyer's broom contains alkaloids—plant compounds that can be toxic—and safety data is limited, so we'd advise caution with this product. The documented side effects from oral use include nausea and vomiting; overuse may also cause diarrhea.

Because it may affect the uterus and safety during pregnancy is unknown, this product is not recommended during pregnancy. Avoid it while breastfeeding as well—there isn't enough safety information.

Caffeine

Theoretically, dyer's broom might reduce the clearance of caffeine.
Dyer's broom contains genistein. Taking genistein 1 gram daily for 14 days seems to inhibit caffeine clearance and metabolism in healthy females. This effect has been attributed to inhibition of the cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzyme, which is involved in caffeine metabolism. It is unclear if this effect occurs with the lower amounts of genistein found in dyer's broom.

Dyer's Broom Flower by TerraVita: Common Questions

Does Dyer's Broom Flower by TerraVita interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Dyer's Broom Flower has a known interaction with 29 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Dyer's Broom Flower contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I drink coffee or energy drinks?
You should check with us first. Dyer's broom can slow how your body clears caffeine, so combining it with coffee, tea, energy drinks, or caffeine pills might raise caffeine levels and cause jitteriness, a racing heart, or sleep problems. We can help you figure out what's safe for your routine.
Is it safe to use while pregnant?
No. The safety data advises against using dyer's broom during pregnancy because it may affect the uterus and safety is unknown. Talk with your doctor about your options.
Can I use this while breastfeeding?
No. There isn't enough safety information about dyer's broom and breastfeeding, so it's best to avoid it. Your pharmacist or doctor can suggest safer alternatives.
What side effects might I experience?
Oral use may cause nausea and vomiting. If you overuse it, diarrhea is also possible. Because this herb contains potentially toxic alkaloids and has limited safety data overall, caution is advised.
How much should I take?
The facts we have don't include dosing information for this product. Your best bet is to follow the label instructions or ask your pharmacist for guidance.
