Elderberry 750 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Elderberry 750 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Elderberry 750 by Purely Beneficial
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This 2-ingredient capsule contains elderberry extract and elderberry as its active ingredients, along with methylcellulose as an inactive binder. The extract form concentrates the active compounds from the ripe berries, while the capsule makes it convenient to take.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for elderberry's effectiveness isn't established yet in the data we hold. Claims about hay fever, heart disease, chronic fatigue, COPD, brain function, and respiratory tract infections all have insufficient reliable evidence to rate them.
That doesn't mean elderberry doesn't work — it means the studies so far haven't been strong enough to say for certain.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Elderberry extracts made from ripe fruit are generally well tolerated. The real risk comes from raw or unripe berries, seeds, leaves, or bark — those contain compounds (cyanogenic glycosides) that cooking destroys, and can cause nausea, vomiting, severe diarrhea, weakness, dizziness, numbness, and confusion.
This product should be safe on that front if it's properly prepared. There isn't enough reliable safety data to recommend elderberry supplements during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the evidence just isn't there either way.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant or nursing. One rare case report linked elderberry to liver inflammation in someone with an underlying autoimmune disease, though that's uncommon.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Elderberry 750, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take immunosuppressants or pazopanib (Votrient). Both are Moderate severity concerns — the supplement may interfere with how these medications work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're on an immunosuppressant (like after a transplant) or taking pazopanib for cancer, you'll want to clear this with your doctor or pharmacist first. Elderberry extracts from ripe fruit are generally well tolerated, but we don't yet have solid evidence it works for the conditions people often take it for.
Talk it over with your own provider before starting — they know your health picture best.

Elderberry 750 by Purely Beneficial Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Purely Beneficial's Elderberry 750 does interact with medications through its elderberry content.
The most serious concern is immunosuppressants (drugs that weaken your immune system on purpose — used after transplants or for certain autoimmune conditions). Elderberry can boost immune activity, which may counteract what those medications are meant to do.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to flag pazopanib (Votrient), a cancer drug. There's a case report of a patient on pazopanib who developed severe nausea, loose stools, and liver injury after taking elderberry — though we can't say for certain the supplement caused it, the timing raised a concern.
Altogether, these interactions span 121 individual medications.
The good news: properly prepared elderberry extracts from ripe fruit are generally well tolerated. Before you start this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist about any immunosuppressants or cancer medications you're on.
That search tool on this page can help you verify your exact drugs.
