This product contains 16 active ingredients, most of which are digestive enzymes. The blend includes amylase and glucoamylase (which break down carbohydrates), lipase (breaks down fats), several proteases and peptidases (break down proteins), and other specialized enzymes like cellulase, hemicellulase, pectinase, xylanase, phytase, and alpha-galactosidase.
It also contains lactase, the enzyme that helps digest milk sugar, and organic microalgae (spirulina). The capsules also contain inactive ingredients: rice bran, beet root fiber, and plant fiber.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
For lactase, the evidence is clear — it's effective for lactose intolerance. For lipase, evidence on inflammatory bowel disease and indigestion (dyspepsia) is insufficient to rate it; the same goes for phytase across multiple conditions.
Spirulina (organic microalgae) is possibly effective for high blood pressure but has insufficient evidence for acne, hay fever, anemia, and arsenic poisoning. We hold no effectiveness ratings for the other enzyme components in this blend.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lipase is generally well tolerated in supplement form, though people with serious digestive conditions should use it only under medical guidance. There's little safety data on supplemental lipase in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor before using it if you're pregnant or nursing.
Spirulina is well tolerated by mouth in general, though quality varies — some products can be contaminated with toxins or heavy metals. Common side effects include abdominal cramps, bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and headache.
Rarely, allergic reactions including anaphylaxis have occurred. Lactase is generally well tolerated and likely safe in pregnancy, though limited data exist for breastfeeding.
Most other enzymes in this blend have limited human safety data; proteolytic enzymes may cause digestive upset or allergic reactions, and phytase has not been well studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

organic Microalgae
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, spirulina blue-green algae might increase the risk of bleeding if used with other anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs. However, this is unlikely.
Spirulina blue-green algae have shown antiplatelet and anticoagulant effects in vitro. However, one preliminary study in 24 patients receiving spirulina blue-green algae 2.3 grams daily for 2 weeks showed no effect on platelet activation or measures of clotting time.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking blue-green algae with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Human research shows that spirulina blue-green algae can have hypoglycemic effects in patients with diabetes, at least some of whom were using antidiabetes drugs. However, blue-green algae does not seem to improve glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in patients with diabetes. A meta-analysis of animal studies also suggests that spirulina blue-green algae have hypoglycemic effects.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of blue-green algae might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.

Lipase
