Flaxseed Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Flaxseed against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Flaxseed by Nature's Craft
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This softgel contains 5 active ingredients. Flaxseed Oil is a blend whose components are broken down individually.
You also get Oleic Acid, a heart-healthy monounsaturated fat, plus Alpha-Linolenic Acid and Linoleic Acid — essential fatty acids your body needs. The capsule itself is made from gelatin, glycerin, purified water, and caramel color — inactive ingredients that help deliver the oil.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Oleic acid in this product is possibly effective for high cholesterol and heart disease prevention, based on research showing diets rich in oleic acid can help protect cardiovascular health. Evidence for the other active ingredients isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Oleic acid is generally recognized as safe when you get it from foods like olive oil. At supplement-level doses, though, safety data is limited — we don't have solid information on long-term use of concentrated amounts.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, the amounts found naturally in foods are considered safe, but concentrated supplement doses haven't been well studied. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medications), double-check this product with your pharmacist or doctor before starting — oleic acid may increase their effect. We couldn't check the interactions for several other ingredients in this product, so it's worth a full review of your medication list before you begin.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Flaxseed by Nature's Craft may help support heart health through its oleic acid content, especially if you have high cholesterol or want cardiovascular support. If you take any blood sugar medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist first — this product could increase how well those drugs work.
It's a reasonable option for general wellness, but run it by your own healthcare provider before you start.

Flaxseed Oil
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, using flaxseed oil in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding.
Small clinical studies show that consuming flaxseed oil might decrease platelet aggregation and increase bleeding time.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining flaxseed oil with other antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical evidence suggests that long-term consumption of flaxseed oil can modestly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while other clinical research shows no effect.
Ezetimibe (Zetia)
Concomitant use of flaxseed oil and ezetimibe reduces the absorption of alpha-linolenic acid from flaxseed oil.
In one clinical study, concomitant consumption of ezetimibe 10 mg daily with flaxseed oil 2 grams providing 1 gram of alpha-linolenic acid daily blocked the absorption of alpha-linolenic acid, resulting in an overall reduction in alpha-linolenic plasma levels from baseline.
