What’s inside
Full disclosure
Forsythia Powder is a single-ingredient supplement containing forsythia in powder form. Forsythia is a plant traditionally used in herbal medicine, typically for short-term use.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The data we hold does not establish effectiveness for bronchiolitis — the evidence is rated insufficient. Forsythia may have other traditional uses, but we don't have reliable evidence ratings for those in our records, so we can't speak to them here.
How safe is it?
Limited data
Forsythia is generally used only short-term in traditional medicine, but human safety data are limited. Adverse effects aren't documented in our data.
The safety facts advise against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough data to know whether it's safe in either situation — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your individual circumstances if pregnancy or breastfeeding is a consideration for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Forsythia Powder, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug (like aspirin, Plavix, Lovenox, or heparin) — forsythia may increase bleeding risk. Also confirm it's clear if you're prescribed azithromycin (Zithromax).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is limited.
Forsythia Powder is a single-ingredient herbal product with limited human safety data and no established effectiveness in our records. The main concern is interaction with blood thinners and certain antibiotics.
If you take anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications, or if you're on azithromycin, check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting this powder.

Forsythia, Powder monograph & interactionsForsythia Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Forsythia Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection has documented interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs, and with the antibiotic azithromycin.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet medications — forsythia may reduce how platelets clump together, which could increase bleeding risk when combined with drugs like aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or heparin.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With azithromycin (Zithromax), animal research suggests forsythia may slow the body's clearance of both the antibiotic and forsythia itself, potentially raising levels of both. This is a Minor-severity interaction, but worth flagging if you're on that antibiotic.
Altogether, these interactions span 123 individual medications. Before you start this powder, run your current medications through the interaction checker on this page — especially if you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug, or if you're prescribed azithromycin.

For each ingredient in Forsythia Powder with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Forsythia, Powder
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking forsythia with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Forsythia might reduce platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
Azithromycin (Zithromax)
Theoretically, taking forsythia with azithromycin might increase the risk of adverse effects. Animal research in rats shows that taking a single dose of forsythia with azithromycin decreases the clearance and increases the area under the curve of both forsythiaside, a constituent of forsythia, and azithromycin. The mechanism of this interaction is not well understood.
