The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients—vegetable cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and stearic acid—which help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
L-tyrosine is effective for phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic condition in which the body cannot break down phenylalanine. It is possibly effective for cognitive function and memory, though the evidence is not conclusive.
For athletic performance, the evidence suggests it is possibly ineffective. For alcohol use disorder and dementia, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it either way.

Tyrosine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though a thorough safety evaluation hasn't been completed. The most common side effects reported are fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea.
Larger doses (around 150 mg/kg) can cause more pronounced headache and fatigue. Because safety data is limited, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting regular use.

Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement for adults, take one (1) vegetable capsule daily with juice or water, between meals, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Long chains of molecularly bonded individual amino acids form protein. The body must first break these molecular (peptide) bonds for amino acid absorption to take place. Solgar's free form amino acids are already in their simplest form (no peptide bonds) and can be readily absorbed into the bloodstream.

Theoretically, tyrosine might decrease the effectiveness of levodopa.
Tyrosine and levodopa compete for absorption in the proximal duodenum by the large neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport system. Advise patients to separate doses of tyrosine and levodopa by at least 2 hours.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, tyrosine might have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications.
Tyrosine is a precursor to thyroxine and might increase levels of thyroid hormones.
