HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Liposomal B12 Folate TMG by Core Med Science
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This liquid formula contains 3 active ingredients: vitamin B12 (cobalamin), betaine (TMG), and folate. B12 supports nerve function and red blood cell formation.
The folate and betaine work together in one-carbon metabolism — a key biochemical pathway. The formula is delivered in a liposomal form, which uses tiny fat-based spheres to help absorption.
The inactive ingredients are water, sunflower lecithin, natural flavors, glycerin, stevia leaf extract, and potassium sorbate — standard excipients for a liquid supplement.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B12 in this product is proven effective for treating B12 deficiency and Imerslund-Grasbeck disease (a rare inherited disorder affecting B12 absorption). It's also likely effective for cyanide poisoning and possibly effective for canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles).
For betaine and folate, the evidence on file doesn't establish how well they work for specific conditions in this product form, so we can't make a claim there.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
B12 is generally very well tolerated — your body clears excess amounts through urine, so there's no established upper limit. It's considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding at normal recommended doses; follow your provider's guidance.
Allergic reactions to B12 are rare but possible, showing up as rash, itching, or hives. A very small number of people correcting severe anemia (megaloblastic anemia) with B12 have experienced dangerous drops in potassium (a mineral your heart needs), though this is extremely rare.
Injection site reactions can occur if you receive B12 by shot rather than by mouth.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take metformin for diabetes, that's the main one to watch — metformin can lower your B12 levels, so adding this supplement makes sense, but confirm the timing and dose with your own doctor or pharmacist. We hold no interaction data for betaine or folate, so if you're on other medications, check your full list through the tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This product makes sense if you're deficient in B12 or have a condition where B12 helps — and especially if you take metformin, since that drug can lower B12 over time. If you're on any other prescription medications, check them against the interaction tool here first.
Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before you start, particularly if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing a chronic condition.
