Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product has one active ingredient: litchi seed extract (dry), which is derived from the lychee fruit's seed. Our data links it to our lychee monograph, which is where the interaction and safety details come from.

The other listed ingredients are inactive: glycerin and water. The facts we hold do not describe the specific purpose of the litchi seed extract in this product.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Lychee product and its label doesn't state a use — see Lychee's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We do not have any effectiveness ratings for litchi seed extract in the data we hold, so whether it works for any purpose is not established in our data. Animal research is mentioned in the interaction data, but it does not show benefit in people.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lychee fruit as food is generally well tolerated, but our safety notes say concentrated extracts are not well studied. One of our notes says concentrated extracts should be avoided, while another says normal food amounts are likely fine.

Oral use can cause allergic reactions, including hives, swelling of the tongue or lips, shortness of breath, and anaphylaxis. Lychee has also been linked to hypoglycemic encephalopathy (brain effects from very low blood sugar) in children, especially those who were malnourished, and the association has been questioned.

Our pregnancy data for this ingredient is not on file, and there is not enough safety data on extracts during breastfeeding, so please talk with your doctor or pharmacist for advice on your situation.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Lychee.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: immunosuppressants / transplant drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 207 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Double-check antidiabetes drugs first, because the interaction is rated Moderate for a risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Immunosuppressants are next, with a Minor rating for a possible reduction in their effectiveness.

Talk over any of these medications with your own doctor or pharmacist before combining them with this product.
