This product contains 2 active ingredients: zeaxanthin and lutein. Both are carotenoids — pigments naturally found in leafy greens and other plants that your eyes use to filter out damaging light.
The capsules also hold inactive ingredients including kale powder and spirulina powder (which add nutritional color and texture) plus corn starch, cellulose, and magnesium stearate as binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For age-related macular degeneration (AMD) — vision loss that develops over time — both zeaxanthin and lutein are rated Possibly Effective based on available evidence. Lutein is also Possibly Effective for cataracts.
For other conditions like Alzheimer disease, asthma, and several types of retinal disease, the evidence isn't established well enough for us to rate either ingredient.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both zeaxanthin and lutein are generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Lutein at up to 20 mg daily hasn't caused adverse effects in studies.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, both ingredients carry a 'Likely Safe' rating — but because concentrated supplement safety during pregnancy and nursing hasn't been well studied the way whole-food amounts have, the data advises caution if you're pregnant or nursing. Food sources are considered fine; if you're expecting or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor about whether supplement doses are right for you.

Zeaxanthin interacts with antidiabetes drugs — those medications that lower blood sugar. There's a Moderate concern here: in animal studies, zeaxanthin has lowered blood sugar on its own, so combining it with your diabetes medication could theoretically push your blood sugar too low (hypoglycemia).
That said, population studies of people eating more dietary zeaxanthin and lutein haven't shown increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the first place.

Zeaxanthin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking zeaxanthin with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In an animal diabetic model, zeaxanthin has hypoglycemic effects. However, population research has found that increasing intake of dietary zeaxanthin plus lutein does not decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
