Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lycopene, a red pigment found naturally in tomatoes and other fruits. Lycopene is a carotenoid — a plant compound with antioxidant properties.
The inactive ingredients are corn starch, sucrose, gum arabic, ascorbic acid palmitate, and tocopherol, which serve as fillers and preservatives in the powder form.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for lycopene is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for prostate cancer, meaning there's some promising research but it's not definitive.
For bladder cancer, diabetes, and high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), the evidence doesn't support its use or is too sparse to draw a conclusion. For amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease) and exercise-induced asthma, there isn't enough reliable data to rate it either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lycopene from food is considered safe, and supplement doses are generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — diarrhea, gas, bloating, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and loss of appetite.
A single case of chest pain was reported in a pregnant woman taking a lycopene supplement, but the product's role in that event wasn't established. Supplements are not well studied in pregnancy, so the safety data advises against them unless your doctor advises otherwise.
There isn't enough safety data on supplements while breastfeeding either — food amounts are fine, but the supplement form hasn't been well researched.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check if you're on any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — that includes warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and similar medications. Lycopene may theoretically increase bleeding risk with these drugs (Moderate severity).
Use the search tool below to verify your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Lycopene powder may interest you if you're exploring options for prostate health, but the evidence is still developing. If you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug, check with your pharmacist first — there's a theoretical risk of increased bleeding.
Pregnant women and those breastfeeding should avoid the supplement unless their doctor says it's okay.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Lycopene Powder 200 mg by BulkSupplements.com has a documented interaction with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (medications that prevent clots).
Lab research shows lycopene itself has antiplatelet effects — meaning it may work like a mild blood thinner. If you take warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, or similar drugs, adding lycopene could theoretically increase your bleeding risk.
This is rated Moderate severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 122 individual medications. Because the interaction is theoretical rather than proven in people, your actual risk depends on your dose, which blood thinner you're on, and your individual factors.
Still, it's worth a conversation with your pharmacist or doctor before you start.
Use the medication checker on this page to search your exact drugs. If you're not on a blood thinner, no other interactions are documented in our data for lycopene.
