Here's the simple version: Bivalirudin (Angiomax) is a powerful blood thinner given through an IV, usually in the hospital during heart procedures like an angioplasty or stent placement. Because it stops your blood from clotting, the main concern is bleeding. Lycopene, the antioxidant in tomatoes, has shown in lab studies that it may make platelets (the cells that help blood clot) a little less sticky. So in theory, pairing the two could nudge your bleeding risk slightly higher, with things like easier bruising or bleeding that's harder to stop.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's theoretical, based only on test-tube work, not real patient cases. Tomatoes and tomato-based foods are very unlikely to cause a problem. Since bivalirudin is given in a closely monitored hospital setting, your care team is already watching for bleeding. Still, mention any lycopene supplements to your doctor or pharmacist.
