Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: mangosteen extract in a 4:1 concentrated powder form. Mangosteen is a tropical fruit whose pericarp (outer rind) has been used in traditional medicine and contains compounds like gamma-mangostin, which research suggests may have activity in your body.

There are no added inactive ingredients listed.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Mangosteen's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Mangosteen for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Periodontitis — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

Mangosteen extract is possibly effective for periodontitis (gum disease). For other uses—androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss), Alzheimer disease, and atopic dermatitis (eczema)—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether it works.

If you're considering it for one of those other conditions, the current data doesn't establish its benefit.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Mangosteen extract is generally considered safe as a food, but the long-term safety of concentrated supplement amounts hasn't been well studied. In trials using up to 560 mg daily, some participants reported mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, malaise, constipation, abnormal stool, abdominal discomfort, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry throat, flu-like symptoms, cough, and nasal congestion—though it's unclear whether these were caused by mangosteen.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, safety data is insufficient; the available information advises against using supplement amounts. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you during these periods.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Mangosteen.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 125 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel)—mangosteen may increase bleeding risk. Also flag it if you take donepezil for Alzheimer disease, as mangosteen might boost its effects.

No interactions are documented for the other ingredients in our data.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Mangosteen extract may help with gum disease, but the evidence for other uses isn't established yet. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or donepezil, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—the interaction risk is real.

Because long-term safety of the concentrated supplement isn't well known, it's worth a conversation with your healthcare provider to see if it fits your situation.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Donepezil (Aricept)

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
