What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Motherwort Flowering Aerial Parts Extract, a liquid concentrate of the above-ground flowering parts of the motherwort plant. The extract is prepared in a base of cane alcohol and distilled water.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence here is mixed. Motherwort is possibly effective for bleeding.
For anxiety, amenorrhea (missing periods), asthma, and alcohol use disorder, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate how well it works—the science just isn't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Motherwort appears to be generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though human safety data are limited and it's best used short-term. The most common side effects from oral use are diarrhea and stomach irritation.
Amounts over 3 grams can cause uterine bleeding. If you apply it to skin, watch for contact dermatitis or photosensitivity (sun reactions).
Motherwort is traditionally thought to stimulate the uterus, so it should be avoided in pregnancy; there isn't enough safety information on breastfeeding to recommend it either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check any CNS depressants—sedatives, sleep aids, anti-anxiety medications, pain relievers, or anything else that makes you drowsy. These can have a Moderate interaction with motherwort and raise the risk of excessive sedation.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Motherwort may be worth considering if you're exploring it for bleeding support, but the evidence for anxiety and other uses is weak. If you take any medication that causes drowsiness or affects your CNS, check with us first—this is the main safety flag.
