Here's the gist for this pairing. Aripiprazole lauroxil (Aristada) is a long-acting injection that can already make some folks feel drowsy, calm, or a little foggy. Motherwort has been reported to cause mild sedation of its own. So when you put the two together, the worry is simply added drowsiness, things like feeling sleepier than usual, slowed thinking, or being less alert when driving.

I want to be honest about how strong this concern is: it's theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than solid human studies, so it may not amount to much for many people. Still, since your injection stays in your system for weeks, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before adding motherwort. Don't change your injection schedule on your own.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
