Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Arsenic interacts with.

Arsenic trioxide can prolong the QT interval.
Up to 40% of patients treated with prescription arsenic trioxide have a prolonged QT interval on their electrocardiogram (ECG). Theoretically, non-prescription arsenic could have an additive effect when combined with drugs that prolong the QT interval.

Here's the concern with this pairing. Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting injectable antipsychotic, and like many drugs in its class it can slightly affect your heart's electrical rhythm, something doctors call the QT interval. Arsenic, especially the prescription form (arsenic trioxide), is well known to stretch out that same QT interval, with up to 40% of treated patients showing it on an ECG. Stacking the two could add up and raise the risk of a dangerous, irregular heartbeat.

This isn't about arsenic boosting or blocking how your body clears the drug. It's two things nudging the heart in the same direction. There's no good reason to take arsenic anyway, so please avoid it and check with your pharmacist or doctor about any product that might contain it.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
