Meperidine is a narcotic pain reliever that already slows down your brain and nervous system, which is why it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or lightheaded. Motherwort has been reported to have its own mild calming, sedating effect. Put the two together and those effects may stack, so you could feel sleepier, more dizzy, or have slower breathing than the medicine alone would cause.
