This product contains 3 active ingredients: organic reishi mushroom fruit body extract, organic maitake mushroom fruit body extract, and organic shiitake mushroom fruit body extract. Each is included as a concentrated extract from the fruiting body (the visible mushroom part) rather than the mycelium or spores.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients—hypromellose, cellulose, and silica—which serve as the capsule shell and flow agents.

The evidence for what these mushroom extracts actually do is limited. Reishi has been rated possibly ineffective for high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), and there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it for altitude sickness, Alzheimer disease, or athletic performance.
Maitake and shiitake don't have established effectiveness ratings in the data we hold—the evidence for their uses simply isn't strong enough yet to rate them. How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three mushrooms are generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects are mild: dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, stomach upset, and diarrhea appear in the data.
Shiitake can cause skin reactions if eaten raw (a condition called shiitake dermatitis) and respiratory allergies from spore inhalation are possible with reishi and shiitake, especially in people who handle the mushrooms regularly. Long-term safety hasn't been well studied, so caution is advised with extended use.
The safety data advises against reishi and maitake during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient data. For shiitake, there's not enough information on supplement doses in pregnancy and lactation—food amounts are likely okay, but concentrated supplements should be approached with caution.

The most serious concern is maitake with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner: a case report documented that maitake raised one patient's INR (a measure of blood-thinning effect) to 5.1 within a week, increasing bleeding risk.

Reishi and maitake both interact with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives) at Moderate severity; both mushrooms can lower blood pressure on their own, so combining them with your blood pressure medication could push your pressure too low. Reishi and maitake also both interact with diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs) at Moderate severity—animal and human evidence suggests they can lower blood sugar, which might intensify the effect of your diabetes drug and raise your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Reishi interacts with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants/antiplatelets) at Moderate severity; higher doses may increase bleeding risk. Shiitake raises two additional concerns: it may reduce the effectiveness of immunosuppressive medications at Moderate severity, and it might decrease blood levels of certain drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 (a liver enzyme) at Moderate severity—though the CYP2D6 effect has been seen only in laboratory studies, not in people.

Organic Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruit body extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Organic Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) fruit body extract
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
Organic Maitake (Grifola frondosa) fruit body extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
