Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Maitake Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: bisoprolol already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate. Maitake mushroom may nudge blood pressure down a little too, so stacking the two could in theory add up and leave your numbers lower than expected. If that happens, you might notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, unusual tiredness, or a slower pulse.
I want to be honest about the strength here: this concern comes mostly from animal studies and pharmacology theory, not solid human trials, so it's a maybe rather than a sure thing. Eating maitake as food is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are where I'd be more careful. Before adding one, check in with your pharmacist or doctor, and keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings.

About Maitake Mushroom
What is Maitake Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Blood sugar support in diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- General wellness and antioxidant support
Maitake is an edible mushroom long used as food and in traditional Japanese medicine, and it is being studied for possible immune, blood sugar, and blood pressure effects. The human evidence is still limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. It is generally well tolerated as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Bisoprolol
What Is Bisoprolol Used For?
Brand name: Zebeta
Bisoprolol fumarate tablets are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the strain on the heart and blood vessels, helping prevent serious complications over time.
It can be used on its own or combined with other blood pressure-lowering medicines, such as thiazide diuretics. All supported products — including those labeled as Bisoprolol and Bisoprolol Fumarate — share this indication.
