ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin (Pork)
Insulin (Pork) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Maitake Mushroom interacts with.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: maitake mushroom may gently lower your blood sugar on its own. Some research in people with type 2 diabetes shows the mushroom's polysaccharides can bring glucose down. Pair that with your pork insulin, which is already lowering your blood sugar, and the two effects can add up. That means a real chance of going too low (hypoglycemia).
Watch for shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or sudden hunger. Eating maitake as food is unlikely to cause much trouble, but concentrated supplements are stronger. Please don't change your insulin dose on your own. If you'd like to try maitake, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your home glucose readings.

About Maitake Mushroom
What is Maitake Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Blood sugar support in diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- General wellness and antioxidant support
Maitake is an edible mushroom long used as food and in traditional Japanese medicine, and it is being studied for possible immune, blood sugar, and blood pressure effects. The human evidence is still limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. It is generally well tolerated as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
