Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Mannitol
Mannitol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Maitake Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for these two together. Maitake mushroom may gently nudge blood pressure downward, at least that's what some animal studies hint at. Mannitol is grouped with blood pressure lowering drugs because it pulls extra fluid out of your body, which can also bring blood pressure down. So in theory, using both could add up and leave you a bit too low.
What that might feel like is dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand up. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on how the two work rather than real cases in people. Mannitol is usually given in a hospital or monitored setting, so your team is already watching your pressure closely. Still, mention any maitake supplement to your doctor or pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mannitol page
“American hellebore tops my worry list for anyone on mannitol (Osmitrol, Bronchitol), an osmotic diuretic used to draw fluid off the brain or, when inhaled, to clear mucus in cystic fibrosis. The plant's alkaloids drop blood pressure and slow the heart, a dangerous match for a drug that already shifts fluid and pressure quickly.”

About Maitake Mushroom
What is Maitake Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Blood sugar support in diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- General wellness and antioxidant support
Maitake is an edible mushroom long used as food and in traditional Japanese medicine, and it is being studied for possible immune, blood sugar, and blood pressure effects. The human evidence is still limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. It is generally well tolerated as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
