MYcoMune contains six active ingredients: four are mushroom extracts — cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, and chaga — plus royal red reishi mushroom extract and shiitake mushroom extract. Cordyceps is traditionally used for athletic performance and energy, though the evidence rates it as possibly ineffective for that use.
The others are studied for various conditions like cognitive function, immune support, and general wellness, but the available evidence for most is rated insufficient to draw conclusions. The product also contains HPMC, an inactive ingredient used in the capsule.

How safe is it?

These mushroom extracts are generally well tolerated when used short-term, though adverse effects can occur. The most common side effects across the ingredients are gastrointestinal — abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and bloating.
These tend to be mild and may improve if you take the product with food. Cordyceps has one case report of liver inflammation (hepatitis), though it's unclear whether cordyceps or a contaminant caused it.
Chaga carries a specific warning: excessive use can lead to kidney problems because it contains high oxalate, a compound that can accumulate in the kidneys. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the safety data for all five checked ingredients advise against use — there simply isn't enough information to know whether they're safe.
Royal red reishi mushroom has no pregnancy or lactation data on file. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using this product if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs — cordyceps, lion's mane, and chaga may all theoretically increase bleeding risk, though this hasn't been reported in humans. The effect is Moderate severity across all three.

The product also interacts with blood sugar drugs (antidiabetes medications). Both lion's mane and maitake mushroom may lower blood sugar further, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Maitake specifically has shown this effect in clinical research. Both are Moderate severity.
Maitake additionally interacts with warfarin (a blood thinner) — one case report documented an elevated warfarin level after maitake use.
Immune-suppressing medications are a concern with four ingredients: cordyceps, lion's mane, chaga, and shiitake all theoretically interfere with immunosuppressive therapy by stimulating the immune system. All are Moderate severity.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, lion's mane mushroom may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research suggests that lion's mane mushroom extracts can inhibit platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lion's mane mushroom may have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that an aqueous extract of lion's mane mushroom can reduce serum glucose and increase serum insulin.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of lion's mane mushroom might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In animal and in vitro research, lion's mane mushroom polysaccharides stimulate the immune system.
organic Chaga sclerotium extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, chaga may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that chaga extract can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking chaga with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that chaga might decrease blood glucose levels and increase insulin levels. This has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, chaga might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro research suggests that certain constituents of chaga stimulate immune function. This has not been reported in humans.
organic Shiitake Mushroom extract
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
organic Maitake Mushroom extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
Organic Cordyceps militaris mushroom extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
