Betamethasone Dipropionate falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Cordyceps interacts with.

Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.

Here's some good news that I think will set your mind at ease. The concern on file comes from studies where cordyceps was taken by mouth alongside drugs that work throughout the whole body, like cyclosporine. The worry there is that cordyceps may nudge the immune system one way or another, which could matter for medications that quiet the immune system internally.

Betamethasone dipropionate (Sernivo) is a cream or lotion you put right on the skin, so very little gets into your bloodstream. That makes a meaningful clash with an oral cordyceps supplement quite unlikely. On top of that, the interaction itself is largely theoretical and based on weak research. Still, if you use it over large areas or for a long time, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor.

Cordyceps is a fungus used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy, exercise performance, and lung and immune support. Human research is limited and mostly low quality, so its benefits are not well proven. It appears generally well tolerated in the short term, but quality varies and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to lack of safety data.

What Is Betamethasone Topical Used For?

Brand name: Sernivo

Betamethasone topical is used to relieve the redness, swelling, and itching of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses (skin conditions that respond to steroid treatment). Sernivo Spray is specifically approved for plaque psoriasis of the body. Diprolene (topical cream, ointment, or gel) is indicated for inflammatory and itchy skin conditions in patients 13 years of age and older.

This medication is for use on the skin only. It is not approved for use on the face, groin, or underarms, and it is not for use in the eyes, mouth, or vagina.
