Cordyceps + Triamcinolone
Triamcinolone brand names: Aristocort, Kenacort, Adcortyl Intra-articular / Intradermal, Kenalog Intra-articular / Intramuscular, Adcortyl in Orabase, and others.
Cordyceps has a moderate interaction with Triamcinolone. Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Triamcinolone
Triamcinolone falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Cordyceps interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the tricky part with cordyceps and a steroid like triamcinolone: the direction isn't fully settled. Cordyceps can rev up the immune system in lab and animal studies, which would work against what triamcinolone is doing when it's prescribed to calm inflammation or quiet an overactive immune response. So in theory it could blunt your benefit, meaning flare-ups of arthritis, asthma, skin conditions, or whatever you're treating.
To muddy it further, some human research hints cordyceps may actually add to immune suppression. Either way, the evidence is thin and mostly theoretical. I wouldn't panic, but I'd loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them, especially if your steroid dose is carefully dialed in.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. This page covers Cordyceps only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Triamcinolone page lists 124 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Lily-of-the-valley (major), St. John's Wort (major), Active Hexose Correlated Compound (ahcc) (moderate) and Alder Buckthorn (moderate).

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Triamcinolone page
“Triamcinolone, the steroid in Kenalog injections, Aristocort, and several creams and dental pastes, earns real caution with supplements, and the three major-rated pairings are the ones to understand first. St.”

About Cordyceps
What is Cordyceps?
- Fatigue and low energy
- Athletic performance and stamina
- Respiratory and lung support
- Immune support
- Kidney health support
- General wellness/anti-aging
Cordyceps is a fungus used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy, exercise performance, and lung and immune support. Human research is limited and mostly low quality, so its benefits are not well proven. It appears generally well tolerated in the short term, but quality varies and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to lack of safety data.
About Triamcinolone
What Is Triamcinolone Used For?
Brand names: Aristocort, Kenacort, Adcortyl Intra-articular / Intradermal, Kenalog Intra-articular / Intramuscular, Adcortyl in Orabase, Triesence
Triamcinolone is available in many forms — injections, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, dental pastes, and eye injections — each approved for specific uses. Injectable forms given into muscle are used when oral steroids aren't an option, covering severe allergies (like asthma flares, severe skin reactions, drug reactions, and serum sickness), serious skin diseases, certain endocrine (hormonal) disorders, and more.
Injections given directly into a joint (intra-articular) or soft tissue help with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, gout flares, bursitis, and tendon inflammation. Injections into skin lesions (intralesional) treat conditions such as keloids, alopecia areata, and psoriatic plaques. Triesence (an ophthalmic injection) is specifically indicated for eye conditions like uveitis and temporal arteritis, and for visualization during eye surgery. Topical creams, ointments, lotions, and sprays relieve itching and inflammation from corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions. Dental paste forms (Oralone, Kourzeq) treat painful mouth sores from injury. Nasal sprays temporarily relieve hay fever and upper respiratory allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and congestion.

Triamcinolone Is Linked to Lower Levels of 8 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Triamcinolone as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Cordyceps — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
