What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Natural Skin Formula against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Partial disclosure
Natural Skin Formula contains 10 active ingredients designed to support skin health. The formula includes Silica for bone and connective tissue support, Hyaluronic Acid for skin hydration and moisture retention, D-Biotin (vitamin B7) for hair and nail strength, Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II and L-Hydroxyproline to provide amino acids that support skin structure, Polygonum cuspidatum Extract (hu zhang) as a traditional botanical, plus Ceramide, SOD (superoxide dismutase), Elastin Hydrolysate, Melon Extract, and Yeast Extract.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients: acacia gum and white rice flour.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for the individual ingredients varies. Silica is possibly effective for osteoporosis, though evidence for its use in hair loss (androgenic alopecia) and dental health is insufficient.
Hyaluronic Acid is possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers, but evidence for aging skin is insufficient. D-Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency itself, but possibly ineffective for multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis; evidence for alopecia areata is insufficient.
For Polygonum cuspidatum extract, the evidence we hold is insufficient across all assessed conditions — hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, wound healing, gout, osteoarthritis, and unstable angina. We have no established effectiveness data for the other ingredients in this formula.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Silica is generally well tolerated when taken orally in the amounts found in food and supplements, though long-term high-dose safety hasn't been thoroughly studied. Hyaluronic Acid is well tolerated both orally and topically for most adults, though long-term supplement safety isn't fully established.
D-Biotin is generally considered safe and well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because excess is cleared through urine; one rare case report associated high-dose biotin with a chest inflammation, but causation is unclear. Polygonum cuspidatum extract has limited human safety data, and its emodin content may cause digestive upset.
Regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding: Silica safety data advises against it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Hyaluronic Acid has no pregnancy or breastfeeding rating on file.
D-Biotin is likely safe in amounts from food and prenatal vitamins. Polygonum cuspidatum extract should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient data and potential effects on the uterus and bowel.
We have no pregnancy or breastfeeding data on file for L-Hydroxyproline, Collagen Type II Hydrolyzed, Melon Extract, SOD, Elastin Hydrolysate, and Yeast Extract.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting Natural Skin Formula, double-check these medication types with your pharmacist: blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (Moderate severity) — hu zhang may increase bleeding risk. Drugs metabolized by liver enzymes CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, CYP2E1, and CYP2C9 (Moderate) — resveratrol in hu zhang may raise their blood levels.
Estrogen replacement therapy (Moderate) — hu zhang may interfere with its effects. Carbamazepine, an anti-seizure medication (Minor) — hu zhang may increase its levels and side effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Natural Skin Formula is designed for people interested in supporting skin hydration and collagen health, though evidence for most ingredients in skin aging is limited. If you take blood thinners, estrogen therapy, anti-seizure medication, or any drug metabolized by your liver, check your exact medications with the tool on this page before starting — the hu zhang extract may affect how your body processes them.
Silica should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk with your pharmacist before adding this product to your routine, especially if you take any prescriptions.

Natural Skin Formula by SuperSmart Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Natural Skin Formula by SuperSmart contains one ingredient with documented interactions: Polygonum cuspidatum extract (also called hu zhang).
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (such as aspirin or warfarin). Hu zhang contains resveratrol, which appears to have antiplatelet effects and may increase bleeding risk when combined with these medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Polygonum cuspidatum extract also interacts with several categories of drugs metabolized by your liver's cytochrome P450 enzymes — specifically CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, CYP2E1, and CYP2C9 substrates. All these interactions are rated Moderate.
Resveratrol in the extract may inhibit these enzymes, theoretically raising blood levels of medications that depend on them. There's also a Moderate interaction with estrogen replacement therapy; hu zhang may have estrogenic activity and could competitively interfere with hormone therapy.
Finally, there's a Minor interaction with carbamazepine (an anti-seizure medication), which animal studies suggest hu zhang may increase.
We could not check several other ingredients in this product — L-Hydroxyproline, Collagen Type II Hydrolyzed, Melon Extract, SOD, Elastin Hydrolysate, and Yeast Extract — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 816 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Natural Skin Formula with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Resveratrol
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Wheat extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking wheatgrass with antidiabetes drugs might lower blood glucose levels and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that taking wheatgrass stimulates the release of insulin from beta-cells and lowers blood glucose.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, wheatgrass might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that wheatgrass induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
