Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic passion flower extract. Passion flower is a plant traditionally used to ease anxiety and sleep trouble.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this powder.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Passion flower extract is possibly effective for insomnia and pre-procedural anxiety — that means the evidence suggests it may help, but it's not definitive. For alcohol use disorder and benzoidazepine withdrawal, the evidence is too thin to rate.
If you're thinking about it for sleep or anxiety before a procedure, there's reasonable support, but talk with your doctor or pharmacist about how it fits into your plan.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Short-term, passion flower is generally well tolerated, but drowsiness is common — don't drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Confusion and dizziness can also happen, as can sensitivity reactions in rare cases.
One severe case has been reported involving nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, and heart rhythm changes after very high doses; all symptoms reversed when the supplement was stopped. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy due to lack of safety data and possible effects on the uterus.
There isn't enough safety information while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, double-check any sedative medications (like lorazepam or sleeping pills) — Moderate interaction. Also run it by your pharmacist if you take heart or blood pressure drugs, statins, immunosuppressants, or any other prescription medication, as Minor interactions are documented with multiple common drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Passion flower may help with insomnia or pre-procedural anxiety, and it's generally well tolerated short-term. If you take any sedative medication or other prescription drugs, check with your pharmacist before starting — the interactions are real.
Avoid it if you're pregnant, and talk with your pharmacist if you're breastfeeding.

Organic Passion Flower Extract by Micro Ingredients Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Organic Passion Flower Extract by Micro Ingredients does interact with medications.
The main concern is with sedative drugs (CNS depressants) — the interaction is Moderate in severity. When you combine passion flower with sedative medications like lorazepam, their effects can add up, which means more drowsiness or sedation than you'd expect from either one alone.
Research in both animals and people shows passion flower itself has sedative properties.

Passion flower also has Minor interactions with two other drug categories. It may theoretically reduce how your body absorbs certain medications that are OATP substrates — a group that includes some heart and blood pressure drugs, as well as certain other medications.
Additionally, it may theoretically lower the effects of CYP3A4 substrates, a large group that includes some statins, immunosuppressants, and other common medications — though the effect appears modest based on the research so far.
Altogether, these interactions span 826 individual medications. If you take any sedative medication, heart or blood pressure drugs, or any prescription medication at all, run it through the checker below before you start this supplement.

organic Passion Flower extract
Cns Depressants
Concomitant use of passion flower with sedative drugs might cause additive effects and side effects.
Research in animals and humans shows that passion flower has sedative effects which can be additive when used with sedative medications like lorazepam.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Theoretically, passion flower might reduce the bioavailability of OATP2B1 and OATP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that the passion flower constituents apigenin and vitexin inhibit OATP2B1 and OATP1A2. This inhibition may be dose-dependent. One specific high-flavonoid passion flower extract (Valverde) seems to inhibit OATP2B1 and OATP1A2, while another extract with a lower flavonoid concentration (Arkocaps) shows less potent inhibition. OATPs are responsible for the uptake of drugs and other compounds into the body; however, the specific activities of OATP2B1 and OATP1A2 are not well characterized.
