Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: pantethine, a derivative of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), supplied at 300 mg per tablet. The remaining ingredients are inactive: microcrystalline cellulose, modified cellulose gum, silica, and stearic acid, which help form and stabilize the tablet.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pantethine is possibly effective for hyperlipoproteinemia (abnormally high levels of lipids in the blood). For athletic performance and other forms of high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), the evidence we hold is insufficient — meaning it hasn't been reliably studied for those uses.
For pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), a rare genetic disorder, the evidence is also insufficient.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pantethine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal complaints: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, and epigastric discomfort (pain in the upper belly).
Mild itching has been reported rarely. Pregnancy safety data aren't on file — there isn't enough reliable information to know whether pantethine is safe during pregnancy.
Safety during breastfeeding has not been well studied either, so caution is advised. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — such as warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, or similar medications — check your exact drug names with the search tool before taking pantethine. The interaction carries Moderate severity and centers on a possible increase in bleeding risk.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Source Naturals Pantethine 300 mg is a single-ingredient supplement possibly effective for high lipid levels in the blood and generally well tolerated at doses tested. If you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — pantethine may increase bleeding risk.

Pantethine 300 mg by Source Naturals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Source Naturals Pantethine 300 mg contains one active ingredient — pantethine — that interacts with blood thinners (anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs).
The concern is Moderate: pantethine may reduce how readily your blood clots and could increase your bleeding risk if you're already on a medication that thins your blood.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although the evidence is theoretical rather than from large human trials, some research suggests pantethine affects platelet aggregation — the clumping action that helps blood clot. If you take aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel, or any other blood thinner or antiplatelet drug, check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting pantethine.
Although this single-ingredient product has no documented interactions with other drug types, absence of data isn't proof of safety. Run your medications through the checker below to be sure.
