Pantethine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Pantethine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: pantethine, a form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). Pantethine is the acetyl form of pantothenic acid and is thought to work differently in your body than plain pantothenic acid — it's used in research and clinical settings to support certain lipid and metabolic concerns.
The capsule also contains two inactive ingredients, microcrystalline cellulose and vegetable stearate, which are common binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for pantethine is mixed and depends on what you're taking it for. For hyperlipoproteinemia (abnormal blood lipid levels), there is possibly effective evidence.
For athletic performance and general hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol and triglycerides), the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate it reliably. Similarly, data on pantethine for pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) are not established in our records.
Talk with your doctor about whether pantethine is right for your specific health goals.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pantethine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal complaints — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, epigastric discomfort (upper belly discomfort), bloating, and flatulence.
Mild itching has been reported but is uncommon. Pregnancy safety data are not on file, and there isn't enough reliable information about safety during breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to use this product if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, check with your own doctor or pharmacist if you're on any anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs — blood thinners like warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, or rivaroxaban, or antiplatelet agents like aspirin or clopidogrel. Pantethine may increase your bleeding risk with these medications at a moderate level of concern.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pantethine may be worth considering if you have hyperlipoproteinemia and your doctor thinks it's a fit for you. If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, you'll need to check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting — the bleeding risk is real.
Most people tolerate it well, but expect possible mild stomach upset. Have the conversation with your healthcare provider before adding it to your routine.

Pantethine by Designs for Health Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report

Through its pantethine content, this product may increase bleeding risk if you're taking blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, apixaban, aspirin, or clopidogrel). The concern is moderate: pantethine appears to reduce how sticky your blood platelets are, which could add to the blood-thinning effect of your medication and raise your bleeding risk.
