Pantethine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Pantethine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: pantethine. Pantethine is a form of pantothenic acid (a B vitamin) that your body uses to make and break down fats and to produce energy.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, silica, and magnesium stearate—which are common binding and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pantethine is possibly effective for high cholesterol levels called hyperlipoproteinemia, based on the evidence we hold. For athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence to say whether it works.
The same goes for other forms of high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia) and for pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN)—the evidence isn't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pantethine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are mild stomach problems: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, gas, and discomfort in the upper abdomen.
Mild itching has been reported but is uncommon. There isn't enough reliable data on safety in pregnancy or during breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and similar medications. Pantethine may increase your bleeding risk.
If you're not sure whether your medication falls into this group, use the checker on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have high cholesterol and want to explore pantethine, it's possibly effective for one form of the condition. If you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug, check your medications here first.
Long-term safety data are thin, and pregnancy or breastfeeding calls for a conversation with your pharmacist.
