Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Pantethine Sublingual contains one active ingredient: pantethine, a compound derived from pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). The product also contains inactive ingredients—sorbitol, mannitol, natural peppermint flavor, modified cellulose gum, and magnesium stearate—which serve as sweeteners, flavoring, and binders to hold the tablet together.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Coenzyme B-5 precursor support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Hyperlipidemia, Hyperlipoproteinemia, Triglycerides, Cholesterol metabolism.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Pantethine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Hyperlipoproteinemia (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Pantethine is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Hyperlipidemia.

Pantethine is possibly effective for hyperlipoproteinemia (abnormally high levels of lipids in the blood). For other uses—athletic performance, general high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), and pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate it reliably.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Pantethine is generally well tolerated, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal complaints: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, and epigastric discomfort (upper abdominal pain).

Mild itching has been reported but is uncommon. There isn't enough reliable safety data on pantethine in pregnancy to know whether it's safe, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Safety during breastfeeding hasn't been well studied, so caution is advised; talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.

Moderate interaction found

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Pantethine.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 122 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your medications if you take any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—including prescription anticoagulants and over-the-counter aspirin—before starting pantethine, as it may increase your bleeding risk. This is a moderate-severity interaction, and your doctor or pharmacist needs to know about both your medications and this product.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Pantethine may help with high blood lipids if that's something you're managing, but the real gatekeeper here is whether you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—that's the interaction you need to clear with your doctor or pharmacist first. If you don't have that concern and you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning either, get personalized advice from your healthcare provider before starting.

Formula

Coenzyme B-5 precursor The benefits of sublingual vitamins In order for vitamins to be utilized by the body, they must first be converted into their active coenzyme forms. This sublingual precursor to coenzyme B-5 (also called coenzyme A) goes directly into your bloodstream in its active form, ready to go to work immediately. This avoids loss that may occur not only during digestion, but during the liver's conversion process as well. Pantethine is a combination of two molecules of pantetheine itself is a combination of pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5) and beta-mercaptoethylamine. Pantethine is the precursor to coenzyme A, the critical starting point in the Krebs energy production cycle.
