Phosphatidylcholine is rated possibly effective for ulcerative colitis, a type of inflammatory bowel disease. For other uses — nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, Alzheimer disease, and anxiety — the evidence is insufficient to rate it reliably.

Phosphatidylcholine is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. At high doses (30 grams or more per day), it may cause digestive upset and diarrhea; even smaller doses can occasionally cause bloating, diarrhea, altered taste, nausea, or vomiting.
Some people report increased sweating and itching. Choline (which phosphatidylcholine contains) is needed during pregnancy, but we don't have enough data on supplement safety beyond food sources in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant or nursing.
