Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine, a fat-like compound found naturally in cell membranes. The softgel also holds medium-chain triglycerides, gelatin, glycerin, modified sunflower lecithin, purified water, ascorbyl palmitate, and mixed tocopherols — these are inactive ingredients that help deliver and preserve the phosphatidylserine.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is rated Possibly Effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease based on current evidence. For athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence isn't yet reliable enough to rate whether it works.
If memory or mental sharpness in aging is your concern, talk with your doctor about whether a trial makes sense for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated, though long-term safety data is limited. Common side effects include flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea — insomnia tends to happen more at higher doses (around 600 mg), and stomach upset can occur at doses of 200–300 mg per day.
There isn't enough safety data for pregnancy or breastfeeding, so both are best avoided during those times.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking phosphatidylserine, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use anticholinergic drugs (like those for overactive bladder or certain types of poisoning) or cholinergic drugs — both have Moderate theoretical interactions with this ingredient that could affect how well your medications work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Phosphatidylserine may help with memory and thinking changes related to aging or Alzheimer disease, though the evidence is still developing. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
Pregnant people and those breastfeeding should skip it. Side effects are usually mild, but start with a low dose if you're concerned about stomach upset or sleep.

Phosphatidylserine by Integrative Therapeutics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Phosphatidylserine by Integrative Therapeutics interacts with two main medication categories.
The most serious concerns are with anticholinergic drugs (used for conditions like overactive bladder and certain types of poisoning) — phosphatidylserine may theoretically decrease how well these work by boosting acetylcholine, a brain chemical that opposes their action.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Phosphatidylserine also has Moderate theoretical interactions with cholinergic drugs (which increase acetylcholine activity). When used together, it might add to their effects in ways that aren't always predictable.
Altogether, these interactions span 219 individual medications.
These are theoretical concerns based on how phosphatidylserine is thought to work in the body, not confirmed problems in real patients. Still, if you take either anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, run them through the search tool below before you start phosphatidylserine, or check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
