Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
PhosSerine Complex contains 2 active ingredients: phosphatidic acid and phosphatidylserine. Phosphatidylserine is a fatty compound found naturally in cell membranes and is studied primarily for brain function and memory support.
The softgel also contains several inactive ingredients — soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, and water — that help deliver the actives.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is rated possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease based on available evidence. For athletic performance, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence isn't strong enough to rate it — we simply don't hold reliable data showing whether it works for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety hasn't been fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea.
Higher doses (around 600 mg) are more likely to cause insomnia, and doses of 200–300 mg daily may trigger digestive upset. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy.
Safety while breastfeeding is also unknown, so avoidance is recommended. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check your medications with your doctor or pharmacist if you take anticholinergic drugs (used for conditions like overactive bladder or Parkinson disease) or cholinergic drugs (used for myasthenia gravis, glaucoma, or Alzheimer disease) — phosphatidylserine may interfere with their effectiveness or strengthen their effects more than intended.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
PhosSerine Complex may be worth considering if you're dealing with age-related memory changes or have concerns about cognitive decline, since phosphatidylserine shows some promise there. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist first — the product could interfere with how these drugs work.
Start with a lower dose if you're concerned about side effects like nausea or insomnia. Your pharmacist can help you weigh whether this fits your personal health picture.

PhosSerine Complex by Allergy Research Group Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
PhosSerine Complex by Allergy Research Group contains phosphatidylserine, which interacts with two medication categories.
The most serious concern is with anticholinergic drugs (Moderate severity) — medications that block a nerve chemical called acetylcholine. Phosphatidylserine is thought to raise acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically reduce how well these drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The product may also have additive effects (Moderate severity) when combined with cholinergic drugs — medications that increase acetylcholine activity. Since phosphatidylserine itself raises acetylcholine, using it together with these drugs could strengthen cholinergic effects more than intended.
We couldn't check the other ingredient, phosphatidic acid, because we hold no interaction data for it. Use the medication checker below to verify your exact prescriptions against these interaction categories before you start.
