The evidence on what these ingredients actually do is thin. Rosemary shows some promise for memory support and is rated possibly effective for that.
Black currant bud extract has been studied for several conditions including upper respiratory infection, eczema, cough, liver disease, and Alzheimer disease, but the evidence for each is insufficient to rate. Black poplar bud extract's effectiveness for any condition isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Black currant concentrate is less studied than the berry eaten as food, so caution is warranted — ask your doctor before starting. A small number of trial participants taking black currant seed oil reported mild diarrhea a few days after beginning.
Rosemary is safe in normal cooking amounts, but concentrated extracts need care. Topical rosemary can trigger allergic reactions and contact dermatitis in sensitive people.
Orally, undiluted rosemary oil may cause seizures. Pregnancy and lactation safety data for rosemary medicinal doses is limited; food amounts are likely fine.

Black currant bud extract carries the most serious concern: it may increase bleeding risk if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or clopidogrel). The ingredient contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which can thin the blood.
There's also a theoretical risk that it could lower the seizure threshold if you're on phenothiazines (a class of antipsychotic medications), though that evidence is limited.
Rosemary shoot extract has several documented interactions. It may increase bleeding risk with the same blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs.
It could also increase low blood sugar risk if you take diabetes medications, and it may have additive effects with aspirin and similar salicylate-containing pain relievers. Rosemary Shoot Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, rosemary may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that rosemary inhibits platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking rosemary with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that rosemary extract can decrease blood glucose levels in diabetic models. However, research in humans is conflicting. Although rosemary powder decreased blood glucose levels in healthy adults, no change in blood glucose levels was seen in adults with type 2 diabetes, most of whom were taking antidiabetes drugs.
Aspirin
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as aspirin.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylates.
Choline Magnesium Trisalicylate (Trilisate)
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as choline magnesium trisalicylate.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylate.
Salsalate (Disalcid)
Theoretically, rosemary might have additive effects with salicylate-containing drugs such as salsalate.
Rosemary is reported to contain salicylate.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, rosemary might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that rosemary induces CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Black Currant Bud Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding if used in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a constituent of black currant seed oil, appears to have antiplatelet effects.
Phenothiazines
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of seizure in patients receiving phenothiazines.
Black currant seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There is some concern that taking supplements containing GLA might cause seizures, or lower the seizure threshold, when taken with phenothiazines, although there is no evidence that black currant seed oil causes seizures. In one report, three patients with schizophrenia who had received phenothiazines developed EEG changes suggestive of temporal lobe epilepsy after starting treatment with GLA, although none experienced an actual seizure. In another report, two patients with schizophrenia who were stabilized on phenothiazines developed seizures when evening primrose 4 grams daily, which contains GLA, was added. One of these patients had a prior history of seizures.
