Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: potassium at 99 mg per capsule. The rest — cellulose, hypromellose, purified water, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — are inactive ingredients that make up the capsule itself and help it hold together.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts we hold don't include effectiveness ratings for potassium supplementation, so we can't tell you from our data whether this dose works for any particular purpose. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether you need a potassium supplement and what form and dose is right for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Potassium from food is fine, but potassium supplements can cause dangerously high blood levels in some people — especially those with kidney disease or existing heart problems. Most people tolerate oral potassium well, though some experience stomach upset like nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or gas.
In rare cases, very high potassium levels can cause serious heart rhythm problems, confusion, or dangerously low blood pressure. During pregnancy, dietary potassium is appropriate, but use supplements only under medical guidance.
The same goes for breastfeeding — check with your doctor first before taking potassium supplements.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this supplement, double-check any blood pressure or heart medications you're on. Potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and ARBs all carry Moderate risk of raising your potassium to unsafe levels when combined with supplements.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Potassium supplements are useful, but they're not something to take on your own without talking to your doctor first — especially if you have kidney disease, heart problems, or take blood pressure medications. If your doctor recommends one, bring your medication list to the pharmacist so we can watch for interactions.

Potassium 99 mg by Bluebonnet Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Bluebonnet's Potassium 99 mg can interact with several blood pressure and heart medications, and the concern is real — it's about potassium building up to unsafe levels in your blood.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The biggest worry is with potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that preserve potassium). Combined use raises the risk of dangerously high potassium levels (hyperkalemia).
ACE inhibitors and ARBs — two common classes of blood pressure medications — carry the same Moderate risk. Both work by changing how your kidneys handle potassium, so adding a supplement on top can push levels too high.
Alogether, these interactions span 62 individual medications. If you take any blood pressure or heart medication, especially a diuretic, ACE inhibitor, or ARB, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before you start potassium supplements.

Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
