Probiotic Select 25+ Billion CFUs Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Select 25+ Billion CFUs against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Select 25+ Billion CFUs by Moss Nutrition
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 12 probiotic strains, including several Lactobacillus species (acidophilus, plantarum, paracasei, casei, rhamnosus, salivarius, and brevis), three Bifidobacterium species (bifidum, longum, and lactis), Streptococcus thermophilus, and Lactococcus lactis—all live, beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health. The inactive ingredients include a prebiotic blend to feed the probiotics, a targeted-release capsule designed to protect the organisms until they reach your intestines, and minor excipients like vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this blend is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are both possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and L. acidophilus also shows possibly effective evidence for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, H. pylori infection, and bacterial vaginosis.
B. bifidum is additionally possibly effective for respiratory tract infections. For most other conditions listed—including hay fever, anxiety, cognitive decline, and asthma—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate these strains.
Streptococcus thermophilus and several other strains in the blend have insufficient evidence for the conditions studied.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, because they contain live organisms, there is a small risk of infection in people with severely weakened immune systems, those with central lines or indwelling catheters, or critically ill patients—cases of bacteremia and sepsis have been reported in these vulnerable groups, though such events are rare in otherwise healthy people.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea can occur, but these are uncommon. Skin rashes and itching were noted in one trial, though it's unclear whether the probiotics themselves were responsible.
Pregnancy and lactation are rated possibly safe for the individual strains we checked, but evidence is limited—discuss use with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Most importantly, check whether you take any antibiotic drugs—these can reduce how well this probiotic works by killing off the live organisms. The severity is Moderate.
If you do take antibiotics, your doctor or pharmacist can advise whether to separate the timing of doses or skip the supplement during your course of treatment.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or certain bacterial infections, this product may be worth considering. The biggest catch is antibiotics—they can knock out the beneficial bacteria before they work.
People with weakened immune systems or serious illness should check with their doctor first. Talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you take antibiotics or have any health conditions.

We couldn't check five of the other strains in the blend—Lactococcus lactis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Bifidobacterium lactis—because we hold no interaction data for them. Streptococcus thermophilus, another ingredient we did check, has no interactions documented in our data.
Additionally, the fact that we couldn't check some ingredients doesn't mean they're interaction-free—just that data isn't available to us. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
