ProSynbiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ProSynbiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ProSynbiotic is a capsule with three active ingredients: inulin (a soluble fiber), galacto-oligosaccharides (a prebiotic carbohydrate), and a probiotic blend. The inulin and galacto-oligosaccharides feed beneficial gut bacteria, while the probiotics are live microorganisms meant to support digestive health.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients—maltodextrin, gelatin, water, calcium stearate, and sorbitan monostearate—which are binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Inulin is possibly effective for obesity, constipation, and diabetes according to the evidence we hold. For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and iron deficiency anemia, the evidence isn't strong enough to rate it one way or the other.
We don't have effectiveness ratings for galacto-oligosaccharides or the probiotic blend on file, so we can't tell you what the research says about their benefit.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Inulin is rated likely safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Orally, inulin is generally well tolerated, but it commonly causes bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, and cramping—especially at doses over 30 grams.
Serious reactions like anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) are rare. Because concentrated supplement doses haven't been studied extensively, talk to your doctor before using this product.
We don't have safety data on file for galacto-oligosaccharides or the probiotic blend.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (for blood sugar control), check them here first—inulin may increase the risk of low blood sugar, rated Minor. We could not check galacto-oligosaccharides or the probiotic blend, so if you're on any other medications, use the search tool below to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ProSynbiotic is for anyone interested in prebiotic and probiotic support for digestion. If you take diabetes medications or any other prescriptions, check them first—inulin may affect blood sugar control.
The main side effect is gas and bloating, especially when you start. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before you begin, particularly if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or on regular medications.

ProSynbiotic by SP Standard Process Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ProSynbiotic by Standard Process contains three active ingredients, only one of which we have interaction data for.
Inulin—a soluble fiber—theoretically raises the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when taken with antidiabetes drugs, though clinical research on whether inulin itself causes low blood sugar is unclear. This is rated Minor severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We could not check the other two active ingredients: galacto-oligosaccharides and the probiotic blend. No interaction data is on file for either of them, which means we haven't assessed them yet—not that they're free of interactions.
Altogether, these interactions span 85 individual medications.
If you take any antidiabetes medications or any other prescriptions, run them through the search tool on this page before you start ProSynbiotic. Your pharmacist or doctor can also review your exact drug list with you.

For each ingredient in ProSynbiotic with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Probiotic Blend
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Inulin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia with antidiabetes drugs.
Some clinical research shows that inulin improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes; however, it is unclear if it has hypoglycemic effects.
