Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

PureBerry+Purse is a liquid with two active ingredients. Red Raspberry Leaf Extract and Shepherd's Purse Aerial Parts Extract are the working components.

The product also contains inactive ingredients—glycerin, purified water, natural mixed berry flavor, and peppermint essential oil—which serve as the liquid base and flavoring.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: promote uterine health and manage heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • We looked for evidence on: Dysmenorrhea, Menorrhagia, Postpartum complications, menstrual cycle regulation, midcycle spotting.
  • The closest evidence on file: Shepherd's Purse is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Postpartum complications (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Shepherd's Purse is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Menorrhagia.
  • Also on file: Red Raspberry is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Dysmenorrhea, Menorrhagia.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish effectiveness for either ingredient. Red Raspberry Leaf has insufficient reliable evidence for aging skin, cardiovascular disease, respiratory tract infections, congestive heart failure, and diabetes.

Shepherd's Purse Aerial Parts has insufficient reliable evidence for postpartum complications and heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia). This doesn't mean the product doesn't work—just that the data we have isn't robust enough to call it proven.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red Raspberry Leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though safety evidence is limited. The most common side effects are diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, and epigastric pain (upper abdominal discomfort), though these are uncommon at typical doses.

One case of occupational asthma from inhaling red raspberry powder was reported. Pregnancy safety data for red raspberry leaf is mixed—the data we hold shows conflicting ratings, so talk with your provider before using it in pregnancy.

We don't hold enough information on safety while breastfeeding. Shepherd's Purse is well tolerated in small amounts, short-term, but human safety data are limited.

Adverse effects traditionally linked to it include sedation, high or low blood pressure, thyroid problems, abnormal menstruation, and heart palpitations. The safety data we have advises against use during pregnancy (it may stimulate the uterus) and while breastfeeding (insufficient data).
