HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Royal Jelly Powder by BulkSupplements.com
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This is a single-ingredient powder: royal jelly, which is a creamy secretion made by honeybees to feed their queen. That's it — no fillers or other active ingredients.
Royal jelly contains proteins, sugars, and various micronutrients produced naturally by the hive.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for royal jelly is mixed. It's possibly effective for menopausal symptoms — that's where the strongest data points.
For physical performance, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), and diabetes, the evidence suggests it's probably not effective. For hair loss (androgenic alopecia), we don't have enough reliable evidence to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Royal jelly is generally well tolerated by most people, but it carries a real risk if you have a history of asthma or allergies (atopy). In sensitive people, it can cause itching, hives, eczema, swelling of the face and eyelids, and trouble breathing.
Rarely, it can trigger anaphylaxis or life-threatening asthma. One case also reported bloody diarrhea and colon inflammation after taking it.
Don't use this during pregnancy or breastfeeding — there isn't enough safety information. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner — royal jelly may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you're on antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications) — royal jelly might lower your pressure further.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Royal jelly might help with hot flashes and night sweats of menopause, but the evidence for other uses is weak or absent. If you have asthma or a history of allergies, this product carries real risk and you should avoid it.
If you take warfarin or blood pressure medications, check with your pharmacist first.
