Saw palmetto is generally well tolerated in adults, and side effects are mild and reversible when they do occur. The most common ones are abdominal pain, constipation, decreased libido, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

Rarely, a fixed drug eruption (a localized allergic rash with blisters) has been reported, and a few cases of heart rhythm changes or blood pressure shifts have been documented, though these are uncommon. Avoid this product during pregnancy—the safety data isn't there, and it may affect hormones.
