Here's the gist: your birth control pills rely on steady levels of estrogen and progestin to prevent pregnancy. Saw palmetto may have mild antiestrogenic activity, meaning it could work against estrogen's effects. In theory, that might chip away at how well your pill protects you, which could show up as breakthrough bleeding, spotting, or in the worst case, a higher chance of an unplanned pregnancy.

I want to be honest about the evidence though, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on weak research, not something we see clearly happening in real life. So no need to panic. If you take saw palmetto regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh in and make sure your contraception stays reliable.
