Here's the simple version. Eptifibatide (Integrilin) is a strong IV blood thinner given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures, to keep platelets from clumping and forming clots. Saw palmetto has been reported to lengthen bleeding time on its own, so the worry is that pairing the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher. With eptifibatide, that might show up as easier bruising, bleeding at IV or catheter sites, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slow to stop.

I'll be honest, this concern rests on anecdotal reports and theory, not solid human studies. Since eptifibatide is only used in a closely monitored hospital setting, your care team is already watching your bleeding carefully. Still, let your doctor and pharmacist know about any saw palmetto you take so it's on their radar.
