What’s inside
Full disclosure
Scullcap 450 mg contains one active ingredient: skullcap (also called scullcap), an herb from the mint family. The capsule itself is made with gelatin and water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for skullcap is limited. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its use for epilepsy, stress, stroke, spasticity, contact dermatitis, or premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means rigorous studies haven't established whether it does. If you're considering it for any of these conditions, talk it over with your doctor to weigh what limited evidence exists against your own situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Skullcap is often used short-term, but the safety data is sparse and product quality varies, so proceed with care. The most common side effects from oral use are cognitive impairment, digestive upset, and sedation.
In one small trial, about 9% of people taking 350 mg three times daily reported mild digestive disturbances. A dose of 200 mg or higher may trigger sedation and cognitive impairment; a single 100 mg dose did not seem to cause these effects in testing.
One person taking 350 mg three times daily for two weeks reported vivid dreams, though it's unclear if skullcap caused it. The safety data advises against skullcap during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Because evidence is limited and the risks aren't fully known, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in these situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check any CNS depressants you're on — sleep aids, anti-anxiety medications, pain relievers with sedating properties, and certain antidepressants. Skullcap can add to their drowsiness and cognitive effects.
Use the search tool on this page to look up your specific drugs, and discuss the combination with your own doctor or pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Skullcap may interest you if you're exploring herbal options for stress or other conditions, but the evidence to support its use isn't established. The biggest caution is that it can amplify sedation and impair focus, especially when combined with sleep aids, anti-anxiety drugs, or other CNS depressants.
Check your exact medications before starting, and have a conversation with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it fits your health picture.

Scullcap 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Scullcap 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection can interact with CNS depressants — medications that slow your central nervous system.
The main concern is additive effects: skullcap may amplify sedation and cognitive impairment when combined with these drugs. Research in animals and people suggests skullcap itself can cause drowsiness and difficulty concentrating, so layering it on top of other sedating medications could intensify those effects.
