Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains two active ingredients. Organic beet is the main component, a root vegetable that supplies nitrates and betanin (its red pigment).
Organic Irish Moss is the second active—a seaweed—but we hold no interaction data for it, so we can't speak to how it behaves with medications. The capsule itself is made from methylcellulose and microcrystalline cellulose, both inactive fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Beet has possibly effective evidence for athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness—meaning some clinical research supports it, but more study is needed. For chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For dyslipidemia (abnormal blood fat levels) and cognitive function, we have insufficient reliable evidence to rate it either way. Irish Moss effectiveness data isn't on file for us.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beet as a food is widely eaten and generally well tolerated by most adults. However, concentrated beet supplements lack the safety data that whole food does, so caution is warranted—we simply don't have long-term study data.
The most common side effects are harmless: red or black stools and red urine. Rare serious effects from large amounts include low blood calcium (hypocalcemia) and kidney damage; one case reported black stools and nausea in an older patient on blood thinners after taking beet pills.
Data on Irish Moss safety and side effects during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not on file for us.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on CYP3A4 substrates (moderate interaction risk)—a large group that includes many statins, some blood pressure drugs, and immunosuppressants. Also flag any blood pressure medications or CYP1A2 substrates you take, both minor interactions.
If you're on blood thinners, mention this product too.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take medications your liver processes—especially blood pressure drugs or those in the CYP3A4 or CYP1A2 groups—you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this. Beet is a food people eat every day, but the concentrated supplement form is less studied.
Talk it over with your healthcare provider to make sure it fits your personal situation.

Sea Moss with Beet Root by Atlantic Naturals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sea Moss with Beet Root by Atlantic Naturals has documented interactions through its beet content.
The most serious concern is with CYP3A4 substrates (a large group of medications your liver processes)—beet's active compound, betanin, may increase their levels in your blood similarly to a strong enzyme inhibitor, which could raise side effects. This is a moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beet also interacts with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) at minor severity; the nitrates in beet can relax blood vessels and lower pressure, though one clinical study found no significant effect. Additionally, beet may theoretically decrease the effectiveness of CYP1A2 substrates (another group of liver-processed drugs) through enzyme induction, rated minor severity.
We could not check organic Irish Moss for interactions—no data on file for that ingredient. Altogether, these interactions span 862 individual medications.

organic Beet
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
