SIBOZyme contains 11 active ingredients—mostly digestive enzymes that help break down different types of food. Protease breaks down proteins; lipase breaks down fats; lactase breaks down milk sugar; and amylase, maltase, and sucrase break down carbohydrates.
The formula also includes betaine hydrochloride (which increases stomach acid), ox bile (a digestive fluid), pancreatin (a blend of multiple digestive enzymes), and prolyl endopeptidase (another protein-digesting enzyme). The inactive ingredients are rice flour, hypromellose (a capsule material), and purified water.

Strong evidence
The evidence for most of these ingredients in SIBOZyme is not well established in the data we hold. Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance—if that's why you're taking it, this ingredient can help.
For the others—protease, lipase, and betaine hydrochloride—the research doesn't yet show they work reliably for the digestive complaints they're meant to address. If you're considering this product for a specific condition, talk with your pharmacist about what the science actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The digestive enzymes in SIBOZyme are generally well tolerated by most adults, but a few cautions apply. Protease can rarely trigger allergic reactions; lipase should be used only under medical guidance if you have serious digestive conditions; and lactase is generally safe but has caused contact allergies in rare cases.
Betaine hydrochloride is the biggest concern—it irritates the stomach and should not be used if you have ulcers, gastritis, or true acid reflux, as it may make those worse. We don't have enough safety data to recommend betaine hydrochloride during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
