Insufficient evidence
The evidence for eucalyptus and myrtle for respiratory conditions like bronchitis and asthma is currently insufficient to rate — we don't have reliable data on how well they work for these purposes. Eucalyptus has also been studied for acne, burns, and cancer, but again the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
Myrtle similarly lacks solid evidence for acne, bacterial infections, respiratory tract infections, diarrhea, GERD, or gingivitis.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Eucalyptus leaf oil is generally well tolerated in small, diluted amounts, but the undiluted oil can be toxic if swallowed — the data cautions against internal use except under medical supervision. Common side effects from diluted oral use include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting; topical use may cause burning, itching, redness, or stinging.
Rare but serious effects include central nervous system depression, shallow breathing, seizures, coma, and death with high doses. There's also a rare risk of allergic reactions and worsening of asthma or rhinitis symptoms in susceptible people.
Myrtle leaf oil has limited safety data overall. Topically it's generally well tolerated, though dry skin can occur.
There isn't enough information on oral or vaginal use to be confident. Rare serious effects reported orally include low blood pressure and respiratory failure.
The safety data advises against myrtle during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough evidence to know it's safe.

Eucalyptus also theoretically increases the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you take diabetes medications, and animal research suggests it might reduce the effectiveness of amphetamines and the sedative pentobarbital. Myrtle leaf oil, the other active ingredient, was checked and has no interactions documented in our data.
Although interaction testing for eucalyptus has mostly been done in the lab rather than in humans, the potential effects are real enough to warrant caution. Altogether, these interactions span 879 individual medications.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) leaf oil
Amphetamines
Theoretically, inhaling eucalyptol may reduce the effectiveness of amphetamines.
Animal research suggests that inhaling eucalyptol may reduce the levels of amphetamines in the blood.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, eucalyptus leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that eucalyptus leaf might have hypoglycemic activity, and might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP1A2, although this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP2C19, although this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP2C9, although this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.
Pentobarbital (Nembutal)
Theoretically, inhaling eucalyptol might reduce the effectiveness of pentobarbital.
Animal research suggests that inhaling eucalyptol reduces the level of pentobarbital that reaches the brain.
