HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Super Citrimax by BodyDynamix
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Super Citrimax contains one active ingredient: hydroxycitric acid from garcinia cambogia fruit extract. This is a compound derived from the tropical garcinia fruit that's been studied for potential effects on weight, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
The product also includes a number of inactive ingredients—fillers and binders like microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, and magnesium stearate—that help form and stabilize the supplement.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for hydroxycitric acid from garcinia cambogia is not established in our data. We have no reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness for obesity, athletic performance, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), or fatty liver disease (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—it means large, well-designed human studies supporting these uses aren't yet in our records.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Hydroxycitric acid and garcinia are generally well tolerated in short-term use, but the safety data comes with important caveats. The most common side effects are diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, and nausea.
Rare but serious events have been reported: hepatotoxicity (liver damage), liver failure, mania (especially concerning if you have bipolar disorder), pancreatitis, and one case of acute heart muscle inflammation that progressed to heart failure. There isn't enough safety data to recommend this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Super Citrimax, check with your pharmacist if you take any serotonergic drugs like antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs), blood thinners or antiplatelet medications, diabetes drugs, or medications that can affect your liver. Altogether, these interactions span 705 individual medications.
No interactions are documented for any other ingredient in this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Super Citrimax is a single-ingredient garcinia supplement. If you take serotonergic drugs (like SSRIs), blood thinners, diabetes medications, or drugs that stress your liver, you'll need to check with your pharmacist first—the interactions are real and potentially serious.
Even in people without drug interactions, rare cases of liver and heart problems have been reported. It's a conversation starter with your pharmacist, not a grab-and-go.

Super Citrimax by BodyDynamix Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Citrimax by BodyDynamix contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA) from garcinia cambogia, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is serotonergic drugs—antidepressants and similar medications that work on serotonin. There's a case report of a patient who developed serotonin syndrome (a potentially dangerous condition with agitation, confusion, rapid heart rate, and high body temperature) after combining garcinia extract with escitalopram, an SSRI antidepressant taken at a stable dose for a year.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Garcinia also interacts moderately with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin). The active ingredient in this product may thin your blood further and raise bleeding risk.
It has moderate interactions with diabetes medications as well—HCA may lower blood sugar in animal studies, so combined use could push your glucose too low. There's also a theoretical moderate concern with drugs that can harm the liver; garcinia itself has rare reports of acute liver injury, and taking it with other potentially liver-damaging medications could compound that risk.
Although the active ingredient here is the only one we hold monograph data for, it's the only active ingredient in the product anyway. Please check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting Super Citrimax.

Garcinia cambogia Fruit Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
HCA inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. The inhibitory effect seems to be greater in platelets extracted from diabetic subjects than non-diabetic subjects.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
HCA reduces fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in animal models, theoretically by delaying glucose absorption. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.
Serotonergic Drugs
Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.
