Super Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Super Probiotic by Windmill Natural Vitamins
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Super Probiotic contains 2 active ingredients. Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose, the natural sugar in milk and dairy products.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is a live probiotic bacterium intended to support digestive and gut health. The product also contains inactive ingredients — maltodextrin, calcium sulfate, hypromellose, silica, stearic acid, and magnesium stearate — that serve as fillers and capsule material.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance (difficulty digesting lactose). The evidence for its use in prematurity and colic is insufficient — we don't have enough reliable data to know whether it works for those.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For atopic disease (allergic and immune conditions), it's possibly ineffective, and for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the evidence is insufficient to rate it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactase is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Rare allergic reactions (contact dermatitis and allergic rhinoconjunctivitis) have been reported in workers exposed to powdered lactase, but this is uncommon in people taking it by mouth as a supplement.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Minor gastrointestinal side effects — epigastric discomfort, abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, and burping — can occur when taking it with other probiotics, but these are uncommon.
There is a theoretical concern that live Lactobacillus acidophilus could cause serious infections (such as bacteremia or sepsis) in certain patients, though most documented cases appear linked to translocation from other body sites and occur in vulnerable populations. Lactase is likely safe in pregnancy and lactation.
Lactobacillus acidophilus in pregnancy is possibly safe; lactation data are not on file. Because data are limited for both ingredients during pregnancy and breastfeeding, discuss this product with your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, check the specific timing with your pharmacist — taking your probiotic at the same time may reduce its effectiveness. Separate your doses by several hours when possible.
No other major medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check, but the interaction data for Lactase itself is limited; if you have questions about your specific medications, use the checker below or ask your pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Super Probiotic is a two-ingredient probiotic and lactose-digestion product. It's a reasonable choice if you're dealing with lactose intolerance or want probiotic support for IBS or antibiotic-related diarrhea.
The main caution is timing: if you're taking antibiotics, space out your doses so the antibiotic doesn't knock out the live probiotics. If you're pregnant, nursing, or take any regular medications, run this by your own doctor or pharmacist first.

Super Probiotic by Windmill Natural Vitamins Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Probiotic by Windmill Natural Vitamins contains Lactase and Lactobacillus acidophilus.
Lactase has no documented interactions with medications. Lactobacillus acidophilus does interact with one medication type: antibiotics (a Moderate severity concern).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
When you take Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotics at the same time, the antibiotic may kill off the live organisms in the probiotic, reducing how well the probiotic works. This is a theoretical concern — the real risk depends on timing and which antibiotic you're on.
To protect the probiotic's effectiveness, space out your doses: take your antibiotic at one time of day and the probiotic several hours apart, or ask your pharmacist for the best schedule for your specific antibiotic.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your own drugs are affected, and talk with your pharmacist about the best way to time your doses.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
