Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • “BroccoPhane” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (93.75 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

Sync Up Berry Flavor has one active ingredient: sulforaphane, a compound found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli that's being studied for potential health effects. The product also contains several inactive ingredients — glycerin, water, oils, bilberry extract, and others that help create the formula and improve taste and shelf life.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Sulforaphane's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Sulforaphane for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Prostate cancer — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for sulforaphane's effectiveness varies by condition. It's rated possibly effective for prostate cancer based on available research.

For hay fever (allergic rhinitis) and asthma, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to know whether it works. Cancer in general has insufficient evidence to rate.

The data we hold doesn't cover all the conditions sulforaphane might be marketed for, so if you're curious about a specific use, ask your pharmacist or doctor what the research actually shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Sulforaphane from food is considered safe, but concentrated supplements like this one are less studied over the long term. The most common side effects reported are bowel discomfort, heartburn, stomach upset, and vomiting.

In clinical studies, some people also reported headache, insomnia, and irritability. There have been two reported cases of seizure in males with autism taking sulforaphane — one occurred after 3 weeks of use in someone with a recent seizure history, and another broke through existing seizure control.

One study also noted increased weight gain (about 4 pounds more over 18 weeks) in young males with autism. For pregnancy, the safety data advises against concentrated sulforaphane supplements — stick to normal food amounts instead.

While breastfeeding, there isn't enough information on supplement-level doses, so use caution and prefer dietary amounts. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product.

Check your medications against this product if you take drugs broken down by your liver's CYP3A4, CYP1A2, or CYP2E1 enzymes — sulforaphane may change how your body processes them. This includes many common medications.

If you have a seizure disorder or history of seizures, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Sulforaphane is most studied for prostate cancer support, though evidence is still developing. If you take any prescription or regular over-the-counter medication — especially ones that affect your liver — you'll need to check them against this product before starting.

The side effects are usually mild digestive upset, but seizure risk in certain populations and long-term safety in supplements warrant a conversation with your pharmacist.

Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.

Sync Up Berry Flavor by Little DaVinci: Common Questions

Does Sync Up Berry Flavor by Little DaVinci interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Sync Up Berry Flavor has a known interaction with 723 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Sync Up Berry Flavor contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What is sulforaphane and why is it in this product?
Sulforaphane is a compound from cruciferous vegetables like broccoli. This product concentrates it for supplement form. It's been studied for several health conditions, most notably prostate cancer, though research is still underway on many uses.
Is this safe to take while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Concentrated sulforaphane supplements haven't been proven safe in pregnancy, so the data advises against them — stick to normal food amounts instead. While breastfeeding, there isn't enough information on supplement doses, so use caution and prefer dietary amounts. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
What side effects might I experience?
The most common are bowel discomfort, heartburn, stomach upset, and vomiting. Some people have reported headache, insomnia, and irritability in studies. There's also a reported risk of seizure in certain populations, and one study noted weight gain of about 4 pounds over 18 weeks in young males with autism.
Does sulforaphane actually work for the conditions it's marketed for?
It's rated possibly effective for prostate cancer. For hay fever and asthma, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to know whether it helps. For cancer in general, evidence is insufficient to rate. Ask your pharmacist or doctor what research supports the specific use you're interested in.
Why do I need to check my medications before taking this?
Sulforaphane affects how your liver breaks down certain drugs by inhibiting three major enzymes. This can increase drug levels and effects, which may make medications too strong or change how well they work. You'll want to make sure none of your prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs are on that list.
What exactly is BroccoPhane, the other ingredient listed?
BroccoPhane is listed as a blend or group container, which means its component ingredients are listed individually elsewhere on the label or in the full ingredients list. It's not a separate active ingredient beyond what's already accounted for in the sulforaphane.
