What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: taurine at 1,000 mg per capsule. Taurine is an amino acid that your body makes naturally and uses in several functions, including supporting heart and muscle health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose and stearic acid — which are filler and binding materials.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Taurine is possibly effective for hepatitis and congestive heart failure (CHF), meaning there's some clinical evidence but it's not definitive. For obesity, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.
The strength of evidence for these uses varies, so talk with your doctor about whether taurine makes sense for your particular situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Taurine is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth at typical doses for up to one year. The most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, and indigestion.
Serious side effects are rare but include allergic reactions — especially in people with a history of allergies to sulfur-containing compounds or sulfites. Long-term safety beyond one year isn't well established, so use should be guided by a healthcare provider.
Taurine occurs naturally in breast milk, but there isn't enough data on the safety of taurine supplements during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure medication (antihypertensives) or lithium. Both are Moderate concerns with taurine.
If you take either, use the drug checker on this page to verify your exact medications before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Taurine may be worth considering if you're looking at it for hepatitis or heart failure and your doctor agrees, but the evidence is modest. If you take blood pressure medication or lithium, check your exact drugs before you start — these are the main medication interactions to watch.

Formula
Taurine is a conditionally essential amino acid that is not utilized for protein synthesis, but is mainly found free in most tissues, especially throughout the nervous system. It functions in tissues by stabilizing cell membranes and aiding the transport of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in and out of cells. Taurine helps to generate and regulate nerve impulses and supports the maintenance of normal fluid balance; it is also used by the body in visual pathways, as well as in the brain and nervous system, where it works together with glycine and GABA as a neurotransmitter.

Taurine 1,000 mg by LuckyVitamin Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Taurine by LuckyVitamin can interact with certain medications.
The main concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Taurine may lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it alongside drugs that already do this could theoretically increase your risk of blood pressure dropping too low.
Altogether, these interactions span 171 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Lithium — the mood-stabilizing medication — is another one to watch. Taurine may slow how your body clears lithium, which could raise lithium levels in your blood.
Since lithium has a narrow safe range, this is a Moderate concern.
If you take any blood pressure medication or lithium, run your exact drugs through the checker on this page before starting taurine.
